Where Do I Start?

We often hear from clients, "Where do I start?" In a primary bathroom, do you start with a tile you love? A vanity? In the kitchen, do you start with a color scheme? A white kitchen look or a bold color? And the answer is it depends.

For instance, in this space, we started with our client's long-term desire to carve out a spacious shower and double vanity in their historic home. Space-planning, lots and lots of space-planning, and good collaboration with the builder to squeeze every inch.

The jump off point in this warm, craftsman-style kitchen? In this space, which features rich wood beams, dark cabinetry, a marble-topped island and a sunlit window, we started with the directive to open things up, but keep it cozy. Clearing up the lines of site and flow were important for function, but sticking with beautiful woods and natural materials kept the craftsman warmth.

We started the design on this primary bedroom knowing our client wanted drama! But also somewhere still relaxing enough for sleep. The bold mural in neutral tones opens the room up into a peaceful panoramic.
