We had a lovely birthday celebration for our dear Bryn today. In so many ways, she is an integral part of the backbone at Two Hands Interiors (THI). (Yes, yes, I know “backbone” is a singular noun, but I think of it as referencing the whole configuration of all the individual vertebrae – and that’s a much better metaphor for a team of folks who work in concert).
HBD, dear Bryn!
Well, Emily reminded me that there is a Journal post due and between cry-laughing about our children’s transition to school and details about photo shoots and such, the final decision about a Journal post topic was lost.
Monday night Bears and soup making meant a delay in homework, and so here I am late-night pondering what in the world feels relevant to write about. hite detailing – might need to knock that off on a future find.
Stay tuned for more on rugs!
Gorgeous fall colors!
Full disclosure: I had thoughts of using ChatGPT to wax eloquent about rug sizes or fall decor – both of which I have strong opinions about so don’t be surprised at future content.
So many lovely rugs.
This one too!
Friends, we all know that AI would be perfectly sufficient to create that content – rugs and “happy fall, y’all” are not going to break the Internet with their originality.
Such drama in this powder. Photo courtesy of Kristi Hughes Photography.
But what AI can’t give us is inspiration.
Love this rope that nods to the nautical in our lakehouse project. Photo courtesy of Kristi Hughes Photography.
The visceral, gut experience of finding something beautiful, despite formulas or designers writing journal posts about how to “do fall.”
Giving all the fall feels.
Sitting around our office table and geeking out over the perfect chartreuse. Watching a client’s face light up when she sees a vintage canvas of horseback riders I have literally been holding onto for ten-plus years.
The green on these thyme leaves is my perfect chartreuse.
This canvas has been waiting for its perfect home for a decade.
At the risk of being artificially (see what I did there?) cheesy or cliché – these are the moments that will keep the human element of design relevant. And fun!
Designers are part detective – always on the hunt for just the right je ne sais quoi.
Design should be fun, and personal, and dare I say the best design is forged from relationship. Getting to know a client so well that when you see that gorgeous plaid wool blend, you just know they would love it. THI is here for all of that.
We’ll use AI for the spreadsheets, thank you very much.
