Collected by the Tide, Curated by Design

Captured a rainbow while on vaca.

I’m just wrapping up a lovely week in Florida with my daughter. I took lots of beach walks and, as always, I am coming home with some special shells to add to my collection.

Grateful for a lovely beach week with my eldest daughter.

I’m not super huge on displaying family photos in my own home (no shade there, just not my jam), but I do have shoeboxes and random containers full of mementos.

Playbills, shells galore from all over, dried flowers I pressed in a book from a walk on a trip, random polaroids, etc. I can’t bear to part with these things, and yet they also aren’t getting any viewing or display to enjoy.

Picked up a few more shells on this trip.

I always have ambitions about making a shell encrusted picture frame or mounting a piece of coral I’ve collected to an acrylic plinth. Alas, I am not in my crafting stage of life – hah – maybe some day. On a whim this week I ordered a few display/jewelry boxes (this one and this one!) to inspire me to at least put some things out in prettier containers that could live on a bookshelf or coffee table.

Maybe I picked up more than a few.

I’m thinking this will be a fun project while I’m binging the latest season of “Alone.” Anyone else?!

And of course the algorithm saw me and promptly sent me this beautiful curio box via Instagram. It’s pricey, but it looks so versatile and pretty I’m tempted to splurge - I’ll keep you posted.
