LUXURY ROW HOME

Project

The project was a comprehensive interior design of a luxury row home, spanning from the ground level to the fourth floor. The design team worked closely with the client to transform a semi-custom unit in a planned development into a distinctive and highly personalized residence. Rather than defaulting to the standard model home finishes, the designers injected tailored, masculine details throughout the home, integrating custom millwork, sophisticated lighting, clever storage solutions like a hidden scullery, and specialized spaces such as a climate-controlled wine room and a sauna. The careful space planning also included thoughtful lighting strategies and layering of textures to balance open areas with human scale and comfort.

Inspiration

The design inspiration stemmed from the client’s personality and lifestyle; a vintage car enthusiast, world traveler, amateur mixologist, and collector of fine things whose personal style informed the direction of the interiors. The team aimed to reflect his refined tastes—combining contemporary sensibilities with traditional detailing—to create spaces that felt both tailored and timeless. Elements such as hand-blown glass light fixtures and built-in displays for his art collection were chosen not only for beauty but for their narrative quality, bringing the client’s passions into the architectural fabric of the home.

Client

The collaboration with this Naperville client was rooted in mutual clarity and respect for unique vision. From the outset, the homeowner made it clear he didn’t want a cookie-cutter result, which aligned with the designers’ own sensibilities. This shared drive toward authenticity allowed the team to explore ambitious ideas and work closely with the builder to realize them. Throughout the process, the design choices were shaped by ongoing dialogue, ensuring that functional needs and personal tastes were fully integrated, fostering a truly co-creative relationship that celebrated both the client’s identity and the designers’ expertise.
