Thoughts on the Technology, Manufacturing and People of Sub-Zero, Wolf & Cove

This fall is flying by so quickly that September’s trip to the Sub-Zero, Wolf & Cove headquarters in Madison, WI feels like forever ago, but we can’t let that experience go by without a highlight post!

Karen, Magan and I were the lucky three who had calendars to accommodate the quick trip to Madison – and boy did we feel spoiled. Beyond the beautiful showrooms and delicious food, a few things stood out for me.

First, the technology is just so cool. From induction ranges to steam ovens – things are changing in the home appliance sector and getting hands on education from the experts was really fun. We got to cook our breakfast food on our range of choice, peruse the myriad configurations of refrigeration and watch their team of fabulous chefs prepare our delicious meals on their suite of offerings. If you want to geek out, this is the place to do it and the staff has the expertise to really educate their clientele.

Second, we were able to tour the manufacturing facilities which was a first for me to see production on such a large scale. Getting a first hand look at the production of a Sub-Zero refrigerator from its start as a roll of steel all the way through finished crating for shipping was truly mind-blowing. All the different machines and materials used along with the talented production employees who do everything from hand bend metal corners to testing the seal on coolant lines was fascinating.

Even more impressive is the volume of American-made materials Sub-Zero, Wolf & Cove uses in its production – a very high percentage, leading industry standards and putting jobs and resources back into our local economy.

Last and perhaps most important – the people. Sure, sales is a job and connecting with your clientele is part of the gig, but honestly the entire team was just so relaxed to hang with and genuinely excited about their product. The essence of Sub-Zero, Wolf & Cove as a family-owned company came through so clearly – they have multiple generations of families working at the factory, and obviously take pride in treating their employees well.

Icing on the cake is the farm to table garden and barn – pictures tell a much better story than words on that element!

Thank you Sub-Zero, Wolf & Cove for the lovely experience.

Another experience I loved was touring Kravet in NYC.
