Contemporary in that the clients wanted clean lines, modern lighting and subdued and sophisticated material selections. Two Hands brought the soul in splashes of vivid color, stunning contemporary artwork and a mix of sleek yet warm finishes.
This was truly a world class design build team - architect Maureen McCarthy worked closely with the homeowners to incorporate a stunning palette of white oak details, curved walls, soaring fireplaces and vaulted ceilings. Builder PATRICK J. MURPHY executed every detail with expertise, including working with newer materials to the market and was able to meet the level of detail required by the clients. The result is a contemporary masterpiece that features a sports court, exercise rooms and lockers, a spa-like primary bathroom and stunning pool house.
Architecturally stunning inside and out, every detail comes together for a special forever home for this couple to host their adult children and grandchildren.
The enthusiasm for design our clients brought to the table meant we were able to flex our creative muscles to introduce more complicated and custom design elements and newer to the market materials. The primary bathroom features large format porcelain slabs that clad the Kohler waterfall tub and ceiling, while a stunning quartzite slab is back-lit for a warm glow that results in a gorgeous spa-like environment. Large scale porcelain slabs were also used on the family room and primary bedroom fireplaces as a feature to break up stone and millwork planes. The matte finish with subtle variation is grand enough to fit in with the home’s architectural gravitas, but humble enough for relaxed living. The generous use of natural white oak contrasts beautifully with the darker floors and warm hued custom maple stain of some cabinetry and keeps the space from feeling cold. Light fixtures in artisan glass, bronze and stainless steel bring the best amount of sparkle.
Finally, the dazzling collection of contemporary artwork is the piece de resistance in this home. Set on quiet, neutral walls the pieces energize the home with color and life.
