A Reflection of 2023 from Rachel’s Desk

I'm writing this cozy by the fire, watching The Morning Show and hoping this rainy weather will turn into Christmas snow.  At our office holiday party a few weeks back we knocked back some delish Subourbon cocktails, laughed a lot and took a few moments to reflect as a team.  I asked everyone to share a highlight from 2023, as well as something to leave behind, and we closed with what we are looking forward to in 2024.  The answers were personal as well as work-related and captured a wide range of emotions.

In our client work, 2023 saw us knock out a HUGE variety of projects!  I continue to be so proud of our ability to listen deeply to our clients and deliver designs that capture their unique styles.  We finished some amazing renovations (a few of which haven't been photographed yet that we can't wait to them show off!), are knee deep in a few more renos and are having such fun on a legacy new build in Michigan.  Utah, Michigan, Wisconsin and Indiana were destinations in addition to our local work.  We also keep enjoying "just" decorating - helping our clients transform spaces without heavy handed construction.  Finally, our DOVETAIL VIRTUAL DESIGN SERVICE has really taken off, with clients across the country and we've enjoyed growing that arm of the business.

Personally, not gonna lie, 2023 was a doozy for many of us. Good and bad, we sure lived a lot of life as a team.  High school graduates, college transitions, teenagers, family transitions, health journeys and scares, aging parents and great vacations, exciting new opportunities, personal accomplishments and growth.  There are hard things happening in our world at large, and the suffering we know exists in various communities is real and salient.  We always want to work in a mindset that recognizes the greater context while still taking our job seriously. I'm so thankful that we have created a work environment that has space for all these things - we are humans first, employees second and we really don't take that lightly at Two Hands.

I am closing the year grateful for my team, for our wonderful clients and looking forward to what 2024 has to offer.

Best,
