WARM AND INVITING BASEMENT

Project

Take a raw, unfinished basement and transform it into a cozy, highly functional hangout for kids and adults alike. The wish-list for the basement included a lounge area, wet bar, pool/ping pong table space and an exercise room, as well as a spa-like bathroom with a steam shower. Working around existing HVAC and architectural elements, we created a sophisticated and comfortable space that serves the whole family.

Inspiration

A "California Library" aesthetic was our jumping off point - clean, warm, a touch modern but grounded in the traditional architecture of the home. We developed a mix of light and dark woods with a custom stained ceiling treatment and beams. Leather details along with brass touches and fun textiles add texture. A nod to the clients' alma matters is done subtly through vintage black and white photos and custom posters.

Clients

Repeat clients who were itching to finish off their new construction basement for their teens and tweens. They wanted the space to flow with the rest of the house, yet be an experience all on its own.
