OAK PARK TUDOR REVIVAL
Project
Rather than reinvent this Tudor Revival home, we leaned into its Victorian-turned-Tudor Revival heritage. Located in the heart of Frank Lloyd Wright district of Oak Park, Illinois, we infused rich colors, collected furnishings, vintage-inspired lighting and thoughtfully selected patterns create rooms that feel as though they've always belonged here. Every decision was made to complement the home's architecture while reflecting the personalities of the family who calls it home.
Custom cabinetry and millwork, tailored storage and furnishings selected for both beauty and durability ensure every room works as hard as it inspires. The result is a home that feels collected rather than decorated — one that honors nearly a century of history while making room for the memories still to come.
Inspiration
This home was full of the architectural character that first drew our clients in: original millwork, leaded glass windows, graceful archways and beautifully proportioned formal rooms. What it lacked was a modern kitchen and bathrooms for a family of five. Our goal was to keep the old lady soul the family loves while fixing functionality for the next generation. They loved its sense of history but wanted interiors that felt more personal, layered and welcoming for everyday family life.
Throughout the project - which included a kitchen, primary suite, multiple bathrooms and powder rooms, a dining room, keeping room, office, lounger and more – we embraced contrast. Traditional details paired with fresh silhouettes, quiet moments with bold pattern and timeless materials with unexpected touches that bring warmth and personality.
Client
We have enjoyed these clients for more than a decade, since Two Hands Interiors switched hands over to me, and our team has worked on their beautiful home over the course of years and literally watched their three children grow up. It has been the biggest privilege and the most fun.
