A MID-CENTURY GLOW-UP
Project
These clients landed a killer property across the street from the pool and parks and within walking distance to town that was perfect for their family, but it needed a major facelift. The project involved transforming both the interior and the exterior with a refined aesthetic that nonetheless was durable enough for family life. The spaces in play included the kitchen, family room, a cocktail lounge, gallery wall and five bathrooms.
Inspiration
This glow-up features a loosely mid-century look with lush green hex tile in the kitchen paired with walnut wood in the kitchen. We dressed their custom banquette in a commercially rated velvet built to withstand family life. A richly toned powder room and cocktail lounge give a moody vibe while the primary bathroom is the perfect earthy, mossy green tile partnered up with gorgeous grain-matched walnut cabinetry and brass accents, which is truly dreamy. The design of the kids’ bathrooms play with color in a way that can grow with them. Outside, the home was reimagined with Benjamin Moore “Dakota Shadow” and a custom pivot front door in Ipe wood that creates a striking entryway. Just inside, vintage Danish light fixtures were repurposed for a stunning look.
Client
Working with these clients was a joy. With big dreams for a warm yet refined home for a family of six, they also wanted a place that reflected their love of art and travel. Our job was to channel that into a design that works hard for them but also feels personal. The result was a home that feels like theirs – mid-century lines, textures and colors they loved, playful in parts and understated sophistication in others.
